About These Communties

History of Filmmaking + Communities
When cinema/ films first began .Not only was it a great form of entertainment for members of the public, it was also a good source of employment, creating positions for projectionists (also known as cinematographers at the time), music directors, ticket sellers and cleaners. Women formed a significant part of the work force from cinema’s earliest days in Scotland. During the first world war , Women also became responsible for a lot of the roles which united them in this community.

Scottish Filmmaking Communties Currently
Scottish filmmaking communities have been an integral part of movies for the last few years , with film releases such as The Batman and the most recent Indiana Jones, a testament to their worth and value as a country in the grand scheme of filmmaking. As a result, this has helped put Scotland on the map as a hotspot for future films to be potentially made there .

How The Government Helps These Communities
The Government helps these communities by working with private sector partners in order to provide additional permanent studio space for the screen industry to use, which enables for bigger productions to take place, and creating more jobs for people in the process.

They have also helped in creating a dedicated screen industry unit within Creative Scotland back in 2017, to streamline public sector support for the development, production and distribution of films and TV programmes. This enables them to have their projects and films financially secure as well as ensuring that their is no disruption to filming.
As Well as all that, the government  has
provided  £1 million in funding to deliver skills development and training opportunities in the Scottish screen industry, enabling it to have a promising future which shows they believe that it will provide a reasonable income and amount of jobs for future workers to become a part of this community.
